How the tally works

A weekend is one call

Friday–Sunday counts once per physician, no matter the number of days or roles, including HEART.

Weekdays stay separate

Monday–Thursday calls stay separate from weekends and are tracked in three general-call categories: 1st, 2nd, and LATE / LATEST. Each 1st, 2nd, LATE or LATEST assignment counts equally as one call; LATE and LATEST share a category. DAY + NITE on the same date is one 1st call. HEART is counted separately, including when paired with another duty.

Original allocation only

Credit stays with the physician before the slash. BB/MR and BB/SZ count only for BB; MR and SZ have agreed to cover those duties. The covering physician does not receive an extra allocation in running totals. Monthly views still show actual covering duties.

Sharing MH and HS coverage

MH and HS calls can be distributed randomly and as evenly as possible among physicians who agree to cover, subject to availability and scheduling rules. For example, MH/AM credits MH, and HS/MM credits HS. AM and MM see their covering duties in the monthly viewer, but receive no extra allocation in running totals.

Weekends spanning months or years are counted once, in the year of their Friday.

The 1st, 2nd, LATE / LATEST and HEART columns below are Monday–Thursday. All weekend duties are combined in Weekends.

♡ Cardiac physician

Allocated total = M–Th 1st + M–Th 2nd + M–Th LATE / LATEST + M–Th HEART + distinct weekends. Each individual weekday assignment has equal weight. Shared calls stay allocated to the original physician before the slash; they are not charged to the covering doctor.

Only published schedules contribute to these totals. Missing months are not counted as zero. These are scheduled calls, not a record of attendance.
